Considered to be one of the most popular cheeses in France, Pont L'Eveque is a name controlled, washed rind cheese. This square shaped cheese is one of the oldest in France. In the Middle Ages this cheese was referred as either "Angelot" or "Augelot". In the 16th century, it was then referred as Pont L’Eveque, the original town this cheese originated from. Made from pasteurized milk, the rind is slightly sticky and aromatic with a pale orange color. Its texture is rich and creamy with a full and robust flavor. Considered to be an aromatic cheese, it pairs beautifully with a Pinot Noir.
