Comte is a semi-hard, unpasteurized, Name-controlled cheese produced in the Franche-Comte region of eastern France. Also known as a French Gruyere, as it sometimes is referred to as Gruyere de Comte, it is the highest produced French AOC cheese. Sourced from milk in the summertime from the Montbéliardes cows, this version is aged for at least 1 year, creating a rich and nutty flavor with an ivory color and a dark rind. This is one of our most popular French cheeses!
